Tim Herrera

Tim Herrera has worn many hats in media: college writing and communications instructor, newspaper columnist, television and radio reporter and anchor, TV news anchor, freelance writer, talk show host, and Communications Director.

Media has been Tim’s entire professional life. He developed his skills as a reporter and anchor in Dallas-Fort Worth and Pittsburgh, and at KCRA-TV in Sacramento, where he received more than a dozen journalism awards for his dedication to accurate and impactful storytelling.

Beyond broadcast journalism, Tim has served in various communications roles within the public sector. For 17 years, he served as Communications Director for the Sacramento County Office of Education, where he was named School Communicator of the Year by CalSPRA in 2017. He also held key communications positions within the California state government, including the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Department of Conservation.

As a college writing and communications instructor, Tim enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for effective communication, helping others develop their voices and connect with their audiences.

Tim holds a B.A. in Journalism from Penn State University and an M.A. in Strategic Communications from National University, providing him with a strong foundation in both the art and science of communication.
