Laura M. Gunder

Laura McElhaney Gunder, DHSc, MHEd, PA-C serves as an Assistant Professor and the Director of Research & Faculty Development in the Physician Assistant Department at the Medical College of Georgia. She is a three time graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, having matriculated through the Clinical Laboratory Science program, the Physician Assistant program and the Master of Health Education program. Her entrance into healthcare began in the clinical laboratory profession in 1989 and besides her clinical experiences as a laboratorian and clinician, she has also worked as a patient educator, a medical writer, course developer and a consultant. Dr. Gunder received her Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She continues to practice clinically in rural primary care in beautiful Ridge Spring, SC. She also serves on adjunct faculty at A. T. Still University in the Doctor of Health Sciences program located in Mesa, Arizona and the School of Health Management located in Kirksville, Missouri.

Dr. Gunder first developed a medical genetics curriculum at the Medical College of Georgia in 2004 and has developed innovative curricula since that time used in undergraduate, graduate and post graduate education.
