Joe Schwab

I am a 4th generation Oregonian, born in 1941 and raised in the Willamette Valley.

In 1969 after two enlistments in the Air Force I joined the Oregon State Police and later transferred to the Fish And Wildlife Enforcement Division. I spent my entire career enforcing Commercial and Sport Fishing regulations mainly on the Columbia River.

I have led a very rich and interesting life. I cannot think of any other occupation I would have rather pursued. While in the military overseas I studied and read everything I could get my hands on regarding Fish and Wildlife occupations.

After retirement, my wife and I owned and operated a Bed And Breakfast Fishing Lodge in Alaska for 6 years. I held a U.S. Coast Guard Masters license for 10 years and guided for Halibut and Salmon.

I have completed two other books, Outlaws in the Big Woods and Big River, Big Woods, Big Games. All available thru Amazon Books.

These three books are true to the best of my knowledge. Many places and names have been changed to protect the identities of those involved.

Most comments and reviews have repeated the same theme. "I could not put the book down until I finished it."

My wife and I are now living in Arizona where I continue writing small articles for local newspapers.

My books sell in gift shops along the Columbia River and down the coast. Some of the retail outlets include, Made In Oregon Stores, Powell's Book Store, Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler Gift Shop, Tillamook Cheese Gift Shop, Shalom Gift Shop in Mt. Angel, Klindt's Booksellers in The Dalles, And Troutdale Historical Society.
