From Infocapitalist.com:

Jim Sanger is an investor, author and data geek. He is Managing Partner and co-founder of Second Alpha Partners, a venture secondary firm with its main offices in New York City. At Second Alpha, he often gets a chance to combine investing with intensive data analysis.

Previously, Jim was a VC at ABS Ventures and Deutsche Bank. Jim’s past investments include Everbridge, Qualys (Nasdaq:QLYS), Gomez (acquired by Compuware), Inxight Software (acquired by Business Objects/SAP), AlphaBlox (acquired by IBM), Overtone (acquired by KANA) and Intralinks (acquired in a syndicated buyout led by Rho Partners).

Before becoming an investor, Jim held positions as an IT executive, systems architect and database developer in the financial services and telcoms industries. He is an acknowledged expert in the field of processing complex data. Jim’s first book, The Text Mining Handbook: Advanced Approaches in Analyzing Unstructured Data (Cambridge University Press), has become a standard reference in many college computer science and business intelligence courses; the book was recently published in a Japanese edition (Tokyo Denki University Press).

On those rare occasions when he is not working, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, writing, programming, listening to experimental music and training for USATF track and field events in the beautiful environs that surround his adopted hometown of Concord, MA.
