Patrick J. O'Connor

Patrick O'Connor was a Professor (and Senior Professor) in the Electronics and Computer Technology Program at DeVry University Chicago from 1968, Program Chair from 1993 to 1999, and Associate Dean of that Program from 1999 until he retired in 2007.

Professor O'Connor writes on technical subjects related to computers and telecommunication, and also writes science-fiction. Professor O'Connor and his wife both taught physics. They developed the classic experiment that uses multicolored LED's, a spectroscope and a voltmeter, to identify the value of Planck's Constant, in 1974.

An amateur astrophotographer with eight Solar Eclipse expeditions under his belt, he also speaks at science-fiction conventions on subjects related to science and metalwork in costuming.
