Liz Spooner

Liz has worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS for over 35 years. She has a clinical specialism in speech sound disorders and has worked within specialist language class for many years. She also works in mainstream schools, working with teaching staff to support children with a range of communication difficulties. Her focus is on finding practical solutions to the real life challenges that teachers see every day in the classroom and on helping children to overcome the barriers presented by communication difficulties so that they can make progress and achieve.

Liz is a co-author of Teaching Children to Listen (2019) and Teaching Children to Listen in the Early Years (2019) and Speech Sound Interventions (2026). Liz and her co-author Jacqui deliver interventions in schools and their work is based on approaches they know are effective at achieving positive outcomes for children. They regularly provide training to colleagues in Education and Health services.
