Carol Mahler

Carol Mahler educates and entertains as she tells tales of Florida folklore, and she has performed stories at the 2003 Philadelphia Folk Festival, since 2013 at the Florida Folk Festival, and throughout the state.

She is the author of three books: “How Do I Follow? Poems by Carol Mahler” published by Peace River Press in 2012; “Guy LaBree: Barefoot Artist of the Florida Seminoles,” published by the University Press of Florida in 2010; and “Adventures in the Charlotte Harbor Watershed: A Story of Four Animals and Their Neighborhoods,” a children’s book published annually 2008-2016 by the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program and distributed for free to third, fourth, or fifth graders in seven counties.

Her award-winning poems and articles have been published in magazines and newspapers, especially the Arcadian; in addition, she writes, edits, and designs books and other publications for the DeSoto County Historical Society. She serves as volunteer coordinator of the Society’s Howard and Velma Melton Historical Research Library and the John Morgan Ingraham Museum.
