May Torres

Greetings! I'm May Torres and I was born and raised in New York City! I'm a mother of two young adults. Yikes! They have enriched my life beyond words. In fact, they were a major factor in my decision to write and get published. I always made sure they believed that they could achieve anything they put their minds too. What better way to instill this, then to lead by example. My daughter was always with a book in hand; which I was definitely ecstatic about. As I watched her read book after book, I noticed that she didn't really have any books with characters like her. Meaning, young and Latina. I knew there had to be some out there, but the fact that there weren't any in her personal collection, saddened me. Did this mean she didn't want to read books like this? Or did it mean that there weren't many out there to choose from? Whatever the case was, I needed to fix it. So I set out to write my first novel, Enchanted Island. She ended up really enjoying it. And the rest, as they say, is history.
