Marianne Tatom Letts

Marianne Tatom Letts is an independent scholar who holds degrees in music from the University of North Texas (BA) and the University of Texas at Austin (MMus and PhD). Her publications include articles on the Beatles' film "Yellow Submarine" ("Popular Music"), the indie band Guided By Voices ("Indiana Theory Review"), the a capella artist Petra Haden ("IASPM@"), and John Cameron Mitchell's film "Shortbus" ("Earogenous Zones: Sound, Sexuality and Cinema," ed. Bruce Johnson). An article on Radiohead's "Kid A" also appears in "Sounding Out Pop: Analytical Essays in Popular Music" (ed. John Covach and Mark Spicer).

A native Texan, Marianne now lives in Seattle, where she enjoys calling and playing clarinet for contra and English country dances.
