Ray Gamache was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. He started writing for the Nashua Telegraph while still in high school before matriculating to West Virginia University where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English. After teaching for more than twenty years, he earned his doctorate in journalism from the University of Maryland, and taught for another ten years before retiring to Maine with his wife Jane and their two dogs. He is the author of several books, book chapters, and journal articles related to sport media and journalism history. His fiction and poetry have been published in a number of literary journals; this is his first collection of short stories.
