Lee Gilmore

Lee Gilmore is a scholar of ritual, new religious movements, religion & media, and religion & nature. The author of Theater in a Crowded Fire: Ritual and Spirituality at Burning Man (University of California Press), she teaches in the American Studies & Comparative Religion programs at San José State University. She previously taught Religion & Anthropology at California State University, Northridge. A "burner" since 1996, she earned a PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley in 2005. Her previous publications include AfterBurn: Reflections on Burning Man, co-edited with Mark Van Proyen (University of New Mexico Press).
