Steven M. Suranovic

Steve Suranovic grew up in a middle class family on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. He attended Lincoln Way high school in the suburban community of New Lenox, IL and went on to study mathematics at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. His received a PhD in Economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

Prof. Suranovic has been on the faculty in the economics department at The George Washington University since 1988 where he teaches international trade, international finance and principles of microeconomics. He is associated with the Elliott School of International Affairs and the Institute for International Economic Policy at GW.

Prof. Suranovic has a strong interest and experience in China. He has been a Fulbright teaching fellow at Sichuan University in Chengdu China and now spends summers teaching international economics courses at Fudan University in Shanghai China.
