Ian Clark

Ian Clark was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He grew up in British Columbia and now resides in Dallas, Texas. He has taught goaltenders for the past twenty-five years including being the founder of GDI. Over the course of this time, he has taught many of today's leading netminders including Roberto Luongo, Cam Ward and Marc-Andre Fleury and currently has goalies that he has instructed on (or property of) 21 of 30 NHL teams. He was the technical author of From the Crease - The Self Development Guide to Hockey Goaltending (1998-2003) and The Goalie News (2003-2008). He is currently the Goaltending Coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets (20011-). Prior to this he worked as a Goaltending Consultant with Modo in the Swedish Elite League (2011) and was the Goaltending Coach for the Vancouver Canucks for nine seasons (2002-2010). He was Hockey Canada's Goaltending Consultant for four World Junior Championships. He also authored goaltending resources for this renowned hockey body. Prior to the Vancouver Canucks, he was the Goalie Consultant for the Florida Panthers. His goalies have won every major hockey championship including the Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, World Junior Championship Gold, World Championship Gold, Memorial Cup and the NCAA National Championship. Ian is married to wife Debbie and has six boys - Morgan, Chris, Collins, Sam, Jason and Blake.
