Margaret James

Margaret began writing short stories for a range of magazines when her children were babies.

Then she became more ambitious, and her first novel was published in 1988.

Since then, her babies have grown up, and she's expanded her range of writing-related activities to take in journalism, teaching creative writing, helping to organise and judge writing competitions, and editing other people's books.

The Silver Locket, The Golden Chain and The Penny Bangle are on Kindle as The Charton Minster Trilogy, published as a box set by Joffe Books as the Denham Family Saga. The novels are published as separate titles, too: The War Between Us, The Secret Between Us, and The Promise Between Us.

The other three novels in the Denham Family Saga series: The Wedding Diary, Magic Sometimes Happens, and Girl in Red Velvet: are also published by Joffe.

Margaret and Cathie Hartigan are the co-authors of The Creative Writing Student's Handbook, which takes students through the entire creative writing process.

Margaret's own favourite among her novels is Magic Sometimes Happens, because it features a hero she would love to have known in real life.
