Katie Kross is a business school educator, thought leader, and author of Profession and Purpose: Your Guide to MBA Careers in Climate and Sustainability (3rd edition, 2026). She has counseled and inspired hundreds of MBA students to go on to sustainability careers with Fortune 500 companies, climate tech investors and startups, social and environmental nonprofits, and purpose-driven companies. Her practical, solutions-oriented approach to the sustainability job search has led professionals and students alike to seek out her guidance.
Katie is managing director of the Center for Energy, Development, and the Global Environment (EDGE) at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in Durham, North Carolina and co-founder of ClimateCAP, the global MBA initiative on climate and MBA education. A sought-after speaker, she has presented to business school audiences across the country. She has served on the boards of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development and the North Carolina Sustainability Center. She holds a BA from Davidson College and an MBA from UNC.
