George K. Somerville

Biography of Dr. George K. Somerville.

George was born in 1934 with "Cluttering" disease. During his early childhood years on a farm in Manitoba, Canada, he experienced short term memory, poor concentration, unorganized thought patterns, and unwilling to listen was not aware that his speech was unintelligible. Quitting school at fifteen, he began working at a fishing camp as a house boy. Having access to a number of alcoholic beverages, he soon became addicted to alcohol.

At twenty five, he became Christian, and joined the church. After serving for twenty five years, he began to question the authenticity of church doctrine. He pursued a study in religion and society, and researched the disease of alcoholism and childhood learning disorders. He was encouraged to write a book on his experience and scientific research.

George is currently retired to a life of writing, counseling, and developing a legacy in Christian life and conduct. He lives with His wife Shirley, his dog Jadzea, and a cat named Skye. He, and his wife of fifty five years live within ten miles of their three sons near the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.

In review, George has been free of alcohol and tobacco for over fifty years. He assures others that a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ is the means to an all inclusive recovery of any addiction. He believes the Lord gave him the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. His hope is that many will read his book, and that he will have the time and energy to write many more, in particular, on addiction and learning disorders.
