L. E. Kimball

L.E. Kimball’s most recent novel-in-stories, Seasonal Roads, was published by Wayne State University in 2015. Her first novel, A Good High Place, was published by Northern Illinois University. She has been included in two anthologies: The Way North and And Here, 100 Years of Upper Peninsula Writing where her work appears alongside the best Michigan writers of all time. Her nonfiction received Honorable Mention for a Pushcart Prize in 2015. Her work has appeared in Alaska Quarterly Review, Massachusetts Review, and Gray’s Sporting Journal and many more. She has also published nonfiction in many commercial national publications. She has just finished a wood fire cookbook/memoir and is at work on her third novel.

She is interested in exploring alternate perceptions of Time, lucid and prophetic dreams and their impacts on perceived reality as well as human interaction in general. Place as character is important in her work and she writes often about life in upper Michigan (where her family were early pioneers in the steamboat/lumber industry) and about Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She writes, lives, and loves (and fly-fishes) on The Little Two Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with her son, Joshua, who has Down Syndrome, and her English Shepherd, Maggie.
