Judy Lawson

Note: Written in 2010: For the past 10 years I have served as the Director of Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Michigan School of Information (SI). I hold a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at University of Michigan. Previous to my current position I was the assistant director for recruitment services and a career counselor at the University of Michigan Career Center. My interests are in Information careers, career decision making, student development, persistence and retention, and organizational effectiveness in higher education.

In writing "The New Information Professional: Your Guide to Careers in the Digital Age" I worked with two fabulous colleagues: Joanna Kroll and Kelly Kowatch.

Joanna Kroll is Senior Associate Director, Career Development at the University of Michigan School of Information. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselor Education with Specialization in Career Counseling from Wayne State University. Joanna oversees the Practical Engagement Program, a credit-based experiential learning program for graduate students in Information. She runs the leading career services office for the Information profession and presents regularly at national conferences.

Kelly Kowatch is Assistant Director, Career Development at the University of Michigan's School of Information. She holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Kelly runs the School of Information Alternative Spring Break program which enables over 100 students to volunteer 40 hours of time at public sector organizations in three cities. She is leading an initiative to develop international programming at the School of Information. Kelly has conducted webinars and has presented at national conferences.
