Mo Johnson

Born in Glasgow, Mo Johnson moved to Sydney in 1991 to marry the Aussie she met while teaching in Japan. She taught English and Drama for 25 years and held roles as head of the English faculty and then Year 9/10 Coordinator during that time. The latter gave her much inspiration for her first novel Boofheads (Walker Books Australia and Walker Books UK) published in 20010. It was a CBA Notable the following year and was listed on the HSC English supplementary tex list.

Johnson also published Something More (Allan & Unwin, Australia) in 2009 and her first picture book, Noah's Garden (Walker Books Australia and Candlewick Press USA) in 2010.

She has also published short stories for adults in the US Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

She has written extensively for the Education press and also has had short stories included in the Ford St Press, Australia anthologies, Trust Me Too and Rich and Rare.

Johnson stepped out of teaching to join her husband in their successful, award-winning mortgage broking business where her writing focus shifted to corporate texts.

She started her third YA novel in 2022 and is currently working on the manuscript.

Johnson lives in the Illawarra with her partner and their straight-coated Groodle, Albie.
