Growing up in Eastern culture and spending most of his adult life in Western culture, author George X. Yu has a unique perspective on the relationship between health and lifestyle, and knows full well the root-cause difference between diseases of poverty and diseases of affluence. But like most people, he knew little about taking control of his health, until two tragic events hit his family two decades ago.

During the five years of his graduate studies and Ph.D. studies in science and engineering, Mr. Yu lost his mother to cancer and his father to stroke, both after lengthy medical treatment. Gradually he understood the meaning of “chronic” when used in front of the word “disease.” From mainstream medicine point of view, chronic diseases cannot be cured, only treated. Armed with many years of experiences in scientific research, he set out to find the answer to a question that was much more interesting and challenging than his Ph.D. thesis: what are the causes of diseases and what are the keys to prevention and recovery? Soon he learned the simple truth about chronic diseases, from allergies to cancer: the overwhelming majority of cases are the direct result of what we eat, what we use, and how we live—all of which we have complete control over. After reading hundreds of books and researching thousands of scientific publications on human health, especially the findings of a range of epidemiological studies, he uncovered the simple and natural way to get well and stay healthy.

Over a decade later, his life has been transformed significantly. His dietary practices and lifestyle changes have brought about the health improvements that he could only dream of before. After a few years of persistent effort to determine the root cause of his eczema, he eventually discovered the reason behind it and cured his eczema completely without any drug or other medical treatment. He used to be overweight. After adopting healthy eating, he lost a quarter of his body weight, and has retained a perfect weight for many years. In fact, the weight loss was only a side benefit in his pursuit of healthy living, and he never intended to lose weight.

Satisfied with his full-time job in high-tech areas, he was not eager to write a health book, despite the suggestions from his friends who benefited from his advice. That changed about two years ago after seeing what happened to his brother who died of cancer at the age of fifty-five. The heartbreaking event created a sense of urgency for him to spread his knowledge so that what happened to his loved ones will not happen to others.

Available now, The Simple and Natural Way to Vibrant Health is a life-changing book for both disease prevention and recovery. Mr. Yu is currently a senior manager at a health solution organization in Ottawa, Ontario.
