Stephanie Polsky

Stephanie Polsky is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Science & Cultural Studies at Pratt Institute. Her work investigates the visual histories of race and empire and the technologies, from eighteenth-century aesthetics and photography to contemporary digital media, that have organised regimes of perception. She is the author of Whiteness and the Visual Appropriation of Race in 1980s Britain (Routledge, 2025), The Photographic Invention of Whiteness (Routledge, 2023), The Dark Posthuman (Punctum Books, 2022), The End of the Future (Academica Press, 2019), and Ignoble Displacement (Zer0 Books, 2015).
