John Rourke is an author, teacher, student, inventor and entrepreneur who has been teaching hands-on technical seminars since 1987, always in quest of the next 'Aha!' moment from his students.
From a childhood of inventive exploration into how and why everything works on an Iowa farm, his education continued with an upgrade to Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa, during which time he started his first business creating computer software and hardware.
Since then he has been writing and teaching Information Technology seminars across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. with the American Institute for Professional Education, the Institute for International Research and Global Knowledge Networks - while also designing and manufacturing several IT troubleshooting products, one of which received Windows Magazine's 'Top 100 Hardware Products of 1995 Award'. In addition to writing McGraw-Hill's 'PC Hardware: The Complete Reference', he has also served as Technical Editor for other books, including Que's 'PC Upgrade: Repair, Maintenance and Troubleshooting'.
In his spare time, he enjoys computer gaming as well as bicycling, motorcycling, sailing, skiing and flying airplanes.
