Robbert Veen

Robbert Veen (1956) was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Protestants parents, grew up in that city and now resides in IJmuiden, near Amsterdam. For fifteen years he was a teacher of philosophy before he became a Mennonite Minister in 1996 and a Reformed minister in 2010. In 2000 he was appointed to the post of assistant professor in Mennonite Ethics and Dogmatics at the Free University. He resigned in 2008 because of a deep conflict about the growing liberalism in his Church. Currently he serves the Reformed Church in IJmuiden-west. He is a self-confessed pupil of both John MacArthur and Karl Barth and is influenced by Hegel and Slavoj Zizek. Besides his ministerial duties he also teaches philosophy and theology online at www.wiziq.com.

Most of his theological books are in Dutch. His first novel was "De Zegen van Ruben Verwij", published in 2009, available at www.boekscout.com. A previous shorter version of that novel, published in 2008, was called ""Een Ongelijk Juk."

The developments in modern religion, the philosophical criticism of the State and market capitalism, the theology of Calvin and Karl Barth and new trends in Art and Literature. I sort of move around in these various fields. Karl Barth and Georg Hegel seem to be my only steady companions on my journey. I love the internet as well.
