M. Div. Monica McDowell

A healer by day and a writer by night, Monica McDowell is a minister who has meditated for countless hours on the virtues of chai lattes & chocolate. She has the distinction of being the first ordained minister in the United States granted civil rights by a federal appellate court. Her first book, "My Karma Ran Over My Dogma" (2007), is a narrative of her journey through these precedent-setting legal events into life-changing mysticism and a luminous spirituality. Her second book, "You are Light" (O-Books, 2011) is a healing meditation workbook to help you have all the love, joy, and peace you desire and was published in over 14 countries worldwide. "Confessions of a Mystic Soccer Mom", her third book was published in 2012 (Synclectic) and picks up where "My Karma" left off. Her first fiction, "The Girl with a Gift" (Earth Words Press, 2015) received an Earth Monastery Grant award from Abbey of the Arts. She is also the author of "The Wizard's Toy"--a fable, and "Healing Cancer Consciousness." Look for her upcoming book, The Oracle of Devor, out the summer of 2020.

Monica earned her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and graduated summa cum laude as co-valedictorian from Seattle Pacific University. She has worked as a minister, chaplain, and as the founding director for Women's Sanctuary, offering inter-faith, inter-spirituality gatherings for women. A dynamic speaker, inspirational author, and extraordinary practitioner in mind/body/spirit/energy wellness, Monica regularly holds workshops, classes, and retreats for budding mystics and emergent healers and maintains a private practice in energy healing.
