D. Ray Withrow

D. Ray Withrow is a North Carolina native living in the little big town of Apex, NC.

He is a veteran (US Army) and holds an MS in Technology Systems from East Carolina University. He enjoys clever machinery and endurance sports.

Literary influences include Saul Bellow, Carlos Castaneda, Hermann Hesse and Andrew Vachss.

He writes stories of literary Southern fiction influenced by magical realism and Southern Gothic tradition, abundantly populated with dead ancestors, forgotten mill towns and back roads. He occasionally dabbles in historical true crime.

He continues to read, write, run and recover while somewhat piddling through life and being critically observant of the world about him.
