John M. Grimsrud

John M. Grimsrud lives with his wife Jane in Mérida, Yucatan, in an ecologically friendly home of his own design. He has been biking, photographing, exploring, and writing about the Yucatan for over thirty-five years.

Prior to seeking a new life of adventure in Yucatan, Mexico, John and his wife lived aboard their home built 46-foot sailboat Dursmirg for many years.

John has published a four volume Travels of Dursmirg sailing series about life and travels aboard his vessel Dursmirg. These books are: Sailing Beyond Lake Superior, Sailing the Sea Islands, Sailing the Florida Keys, and Sailing to St. Augustine.

In addition, he has published Yucatan’s Magic- Mérida Side Trips and Yucatan for Travelers. These two books contain over 35 years worth of selected day trips to places tourists miss most, plus useful transportation information and tips on the best seasons to visit Yucatan.

Jane, his editor, lifetime companion, wife, and best friend, has published three historical books: Sentinels of the Past- 1961- [the most plagiarized northern Wisconsin book], Looking for a New Frontier- 2010 plus Brule River Forest and Lake Superior – 2013.

These books are available in paperback and Kindle digital world wide, except for Sentinels of the Past which is out of print.
