Arthur Howells

Arthur Howells is a retired Anglican priest who has served all his ministry in the Church in Wales. He is married to Margaret, a retired teacher. They live in Swansea and have two sons, four grandchildren and a great grandson. He was ordained in Brecon Cathedral in 1957 after graduating at what was then the University of Wales, Lampeter and continuing theological training at St Michael's College, Llandaff. He was awarded an MA in Celtic Christianity in 2003. Formerly Canon Residentiary and Chancellor of Brecon Cathedral, he was Canon Missioner for the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon for ten years prior to his appointment as Vicar of St James' Swansea. Since his retirement in 1997 he assists in local parishes and is involved in spiritual direction. He has previously compiled an Advent anthology - The Little Book of Advent (published by William Collins)and three Lent anthologies - 'A Lent Companion' and 'Generous Love'. (published by Redemptorist Publications) and A Little Book of Lent (published by William Collins). He has also written a biography of Br. Ramon SSF entitled 'A Franciscan Way of Life' (published by the Bible Reading Fellowship).
