Angus Shoor Caan

Angus Shoor Caan is the author of thirteen novels, seventeen volumes of the 'Coont Thum' series of McLimericks and a fair number of short stories to date. There's also a stand alone collection of poetry under a musical theme, 'Board Bill's Hot 100', where he's selected the titles to 100 of his favourite songs and used them as headings to his poems.

Caan was raised in the seaside town of Saltcoats, North Ayrshire and left at 15 to travel the world, starting off with a stint as a waiter in Edinburgh before eventually joining the Merchant Navy.

After leaving the Merchant Navy, he worked at various jobs including putting the finishing touches to the second Dartford Tunnel, operating a tower crane, assistant chef and continued with the travel theme by working as a BR conductor for over fifteen years.

Returning to live in Saltcoats, Caan found the time to sit down and make a start on his first attempt at writing a novel, 'Scoosh', an occupation he found great delight in. Novel followed novel quite readily until the accidental introduction of poetry to his scribblings to where there's now over 5,000 of them.

He posts a video/poem to a number of FB pages, to Twitter, Tik Tok and YouTube and has a small but dedicated following through this.

Caan regularly takes the sea air by walking the coast road, taking inspiration from the many sights and sounds of that particular stretch of shoreline.
