Robert Benedetto

Robert Benedetto was born in San Francisco and earned degrees from San Francisco State University, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After working at Bishop Museum in Honolulu, his career took him to the Presbyterian Historical Society in Montreat, North Carolina, Union Presbyterian Seminary in Virginia, Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. Robert served the GTU for a decade as a professor and director of the Flora Lamson Hewlett Library, retiring in 2016.

Robert has written and edited numerous books on biographical and historical subjects, including nineteenth century studies of Congo, Africa, and Hawaii. His recent biographical work is Dancin' for Joy: The Incredible Life and Amazing Teachings of Tim Hansel.

Robert now spends his summer months in the Pacific Northwest and winters in the Andes Mountains of Colombia, South America, and on the British-Dutch Caribbean Islands of Barbados and Aruba.
