Mordecai Schreiber

Mordecai Schreiber (pen name Morry Sofer) is the autor of over 60 books, mostly on linguistic and Judaic topics, including two novels (Moon in the Pail and The Rabbi and the Nun), a memoir on the birth of Israel which he witnessed as a child (Land of Dreams), books about the Bible (including The Man Who Knew God: Decoding Jeremiah, and Ask the Bible), and Explaining the Holocaust. He is also a rabbi, publisher, and founder of Schreiber Translations.

Schreiber was born and raised in Israel, and lived in Uruguay and Guatemala. He has lived most of his adult life in the Washington, DC area, and is now retired in south Florida.

He has a passion for swimming, snorkeling, sailing, biking, naive art, and growing cacti and vegetables. Now retired, he has been serving as a cruise rabbi and speaker and has visited over 100 countries.

What is he most proud of? His highly accomplished wife, his three accomplished children, and two very promising grandchildren. He is very happy to be equally at home in Hebrew, English and Spanish. He believes there are better days ahead for the human race.
