Maureen Ryan Esposito

Maureen Ryan Esposito was born with albinism, a genetic condition resulting in vision problems and little or no pigment in the eyes, skin and hair. She felt a strong desire to write this book to encourage children with albinism and their families, to embrace their unique beauty and to bring a positive awareness of albinism to all. Maureen would like My Fair Child to help eliminate childhood bullying toward ALL types of differences and play its own part in celebrating the beauty of human diversity.

Maureen earned a BA in Communication Sciences with a concentration in Special Education from Rutgers University, Douglass College and a MBA from The University of Tampa. After a successful career in business and the birth of her children, the author could often be seen playing guitar and singing with children. This evolved into creating and performing educational musical programs for schools, libraries and community organizations. She plans to share the meaning of My Fair Child through her music. She is the recent recipient of the National Education Association Read Across America "Individual Champion" and NJ Magic 98.3 Radio "Women Who Make Magic" Awards. She is a member of The National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation (www.albinism.org). She served on the Board of Directors for the United States Association of Blind Athletes (www.usaba.org) and was a member of three USA Paralympic Teams. Maureen resides in Flemington, New Jersey and is the proud mother of the guest illustrators for this book.
