Harry W. Budge III

Born in 1958 in the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood on Chicago's south side, Harry Budge enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an engineman apprentice at the age of seventeen. Honorably discharged in 1979, he began his career as an apprentice stationary engineer at the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors near LaGrange, Illinois. As a journeyman stationary engineer, in addition to EMD, he also worked at Argonne National Laboratory, M&M Mars and Kraft. Harry was awarded his chief engineer's license in 1987. After serving as chief engineer at two other prominent high-rise residential buildings in Chicago, he was hired as the chief engineer for the residential portion of John Hancock Center. Harry has taught engineering and maintenance classes for apprentices, engineers, and property managers for over twenty years and has been featured in several documentaries including Modern Marvels - John Hancock Center. He is now retired and resides in Cambridge, IL with his wife, Kathy.
