Suzanne Lyons

Suzanne Lyons writes and illustrates books on science, environmental sustainability and social-and-emotional learning. Suzanne’s science books include the textbook Conceptual Integrated Science, which is published by Pearson Education and now in its third edition. Empowering Young Voices for the Planet, a teaching manual on climate change, is one of her books about protecting the environment. Suzanne’s work in social-and-emotional learning focuses on cooperative games. She founded the small company CooperativeGames.com in 2009 in order to supply games and resources related to cooperative play to the growing circle of people looking for ways to play with one another, not against each other. Her latest book is Cooperative Games in Education, Building Community Without Competition, PreK-12. It features a foreword written by Alfie Kohn. Cooperative Games in Education is published by Teachers College Press. Suzanne's earlier book, The Cooperative Games Bullying Prevention Program, was published in 2015. It features directions to over 50 cooperative games plus background and tips on how to use cooperative games to prevent aggression, stop bullying, and teach kindness. It won a Skipping Stones Multicultural Education Award for Best Teaching Resource of 2016. In 2018, Suzanne published the fair-trade and Earth-friendly cooperative board game that she invented, The Baby Beluga Game, through her small company. Fames children' songwriter Raffi couldn't be more pleased! The Baby Beluga games has won Dr. Toy and Parents Choice Awards.
