Mark Cohen

When it comes to comedy, I like everyone from Woody Allen to Brad Zimmerman (search for My Son, The Waiter on Youtube), but when I was a kid the comedy albums I played over and over in my parents' basement were by Allan Sherman.

Overweight Sensation: The Life and Comedy of Allan Sherman is the first biography of the man behind three of the greatest comedy albums ever made -- My Son, The Folk Singer, My Son, The Celebrity, and My Son, The Nut. It was released today, May 14, 2013 by Brandeis University Press, and is also part of the Brandeis Series in American Jewish History, Culture and Life.
