Christina Beardsley

Christina Beardsley was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and educated at the Universities of Sussex, Cambridge (St John's College & Westcott House) and Leeds. Tina worked in parish ministry for 22 years, and then as a healthcare chaplain from 2000 to 2016. She is now researching and writing. Tina has published articles on pastoral care, spirituality, gender and sexuality as well as Victorian religion. 'Unutterable Love', a biography of the Victorian preacher, F.W. Robertson was her second book. 'The Transsexual Person is My Neighbour', pastoral guidelines for churches, contains an Appendix on Intersex by Michelle O'Brien, with whom she co-edited the Sibyls' Book, 'This is My Body: hearing the theology of transgender Christians' (DLT 2016). She co-authored 'Transfaith: a transgender pastoral resource' (DLT 2018) with Chris Dowd, based on his research into 12 trans people's spirituality. 'Transfaith' contains a chapter by Justin Tanis about trans people in the US today. Tina and Chris's book ' Trans Affirming Churches: How to Celebrate Gender-Variant People & Their Loved Ones' (Jessica Kingsley 2020) was published in March. Tina also has a chapter in 'Trans Britain: our long journey from the shadows', edited by Christine Burns MBE.
