Judith Barban

Judith Barban is a native of Atlanta, GA. She holds B.A., M.A., and PhD degrees in French as well as the B.M., M.M. in piano performance. She has successfully pursued simultaneous careers as actress, college professor of French, translator of Old French manuscripts, and concert pianist. Judith is now into a new post-retirement field--creative writing. Her first novel, "Poplar River," won the Southeastern Writers Association's top prize for 2009 which included publication. As a college professor she published a scholarly book, "The Life of Saint Audrey: A Text by Marie de France," an edition and translation of a 13th-century manuscript. Her passion is fishing in the Canadian wilderness (the setting for "Poplar River") where she has landed trophy northern pike, walleye, and lake trout. The second book in her wilderness trilogy, "Meredith's Wolf," and a collection of accessible poetry. "Crown Jewels," appeared in 2014. She continues to spend a part of every summer in the wilderness and especially enjoys speaking to book clubs, at libraries, women's clubs, and creative writing classes.
