I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I grew up in a rural area of Northport, Alabama. I have one sister that lives in Iowa. She helped me to put my writings in book form. Until a few months ago, both my parents were living. My mom passed away, but my dad still lives in the home where I grew up. My childhood was much like many children that grew up in the post depression era. We had very little but my parents worked hard to provide all the necessities of life.
I was educated in Alabama and Tennessee. I started working as a teenager in the movie theater and later became manager of several of the local theatres. I became involved in the restaurant business and was manager of several restaurants for about 20 years in the Nashville, Tenn. Area. I started selling real estate and did so for several years. It was then I met and married my wife, Shari.
Shari became ill with cancer and several other diseases over the next 15 years. She was a Christian and her love for God showed in everything she did. God was with us all the way through our marriage and to the end. Shari passed into Heaven's Gate after 7 weeks in intensive care.
It was during this time that God showed me miracle after miracle. He showed me a love that surpasses all other loves. He carried me through the most terrifying journey of my life and has again put my life back together.
God gave me a good life with Shari. He brought me through her death. He carried me through the dark tunnel of her death and brought me back into the light of the world. He promised me he would make me whole again and has.
God has given me another wonderful wife. Her name is Susie. She is first, a Christian. God brought us together and He is in the center of our marriage.
This book, And Then There Was One, is my journey through the darkest days of my life and tells of how God was in control at all the time. How He showed me what I was suppose to do with my life and how the Sharilyn Acres Horse Ministry was born.
