Peter Kennedy

Peter Kennedy has held the Burton Chair of Neurology at Glasgow University, since 1987 where he is also a consultant neurologist.. He is a world authority on infectious diseases of the nervous system with a special interest in sleeping sickness (Human African trypanosomiasis) and viral infections of the nervous system. He has received several awards for his scientific research including the CBE in 2010 for services to clinical science. He is the co-editor of two textbooks on neurological infections and has published more than 200 scientific papers in learned journals. In 2007 he published a highly acclaimed popular science book on sleeping sickness entitled 'The Fatal Sleep' and he is committed to increasing the public understanding of science.
