Susan Florence is an internationally acclaimed author and artist. For over 40 years, her work has inspired others through her greeting cards, gift products, and best-selling gift books. Susan has written and illustrated thirty books for publishers in the United States, South America, United Kingdom, and Europe. Her books have sold three million copies worldwide.
Her poetry has won prizes and is published in literary journals and anthologies. A Stunning Absence, her chapbook of poems for all who grieve, was published by Finishing Line Press. Her poem "Legacy," a finalist in the Red Wheelbarrow Poetry Competition, was nominated for the 2020 prestigious Pushcart Prize.
As an artist, Susan is always exploring new ways to express her creativity. As such, her original trademark look changed when she found a new passion in painting plein aire outside in nature. This loose, watercolor style gave birth to deeper, spiritually nourishing gift books, which have been translated into many languages and have sold over 500,000 copies.
Susan graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Art and a minor in Creative Writing. She continues to study poetry at the annual San Miguel Poetry Week and workshops and retreats with poets.
Susan lives with her husband Jim in Kauai. They have two grown children, Emily and Brent, and a daughter-in-law Natalie.
