Roger Jones

A former schoolteacher in central Birmingham, Roger W Jones began writing songs and musicals for his pupils in the 1970s. He has written 22 musicals which focus on biblical stories and characters. In addition to the musical scores, CDs, and backing tracks, he has composed a variety of hymns, songs and anthems. More recently, with colleagues Annie Routley and Helen Pollard, he has written Worship Works and Spirit Works which focus on worship and the work of the Holy Spirit respectively. Roger is a Christian and describes himself as a charismatic evangelical. He conducted a choir for Billy Graham's Mission England which took place at Villa Park, Birmingham, and has appeared on BBC radio and TV as well as God TV. He is recognised as influencing the development of church music in the 1970s and 1980s in the West Midlands and UK. He is Director of Christian Music Ministries which was established in 1984 and is supported by the Christian Music Ministries charitable trust. Roger lives with his wife Mary in Bromsgrove, UK.
