Paul Rossetti Bjarnason

Paul Rossetti Bjarnason is a Canadian author of Icelandic and Italian descent. He was born in Vancouver in 1944. After working at a wide variety of jobs, he returned to formal learning and completed a philosophy degree and teacher training. He then taught secondary school English and mathematics for twenty years, as well as philosophy and logic. Since 1988 he and his wife have been publishers of educational handbooks, during which time he completed an MPhil in Ancient Cultures and a thesis on the ethical philosophy of Epicurus. This led him to write Stargazers: Stories of the first philosophers. His stated aim in the book is "to transport readers of all ages (from young adult onward) directly into the lives of the philosophers, inviting them to answer for themselves the (philosophical) question 'What is philosophy?' and to take part in the quest for the secret of a flourishing human life."

Among his other books are Weight Training for Everyone, Every Athlete's Weight Training Handbook, and Advanced Weight Training. His most recent book was written with his granddaughter, Rosa Bjarnason Kontogianni: Missy's Midnight Caper -- the story of an adventurous lady cat and her accordion.
