Dr Cathy Wield was born in India, daughter of a British diplomat. She is a writer and speaker, having spent most of her career working in Emergency Medicine. She is a married mother and grandmother, a volunteer Patient Safety Partner for NHS England, an active member of AD4E and also the Critical Psychiatry Network. She has given numerous talks, writes regular blogs including those published in Mad in America and was filmed for the documentary ‘Boarding On Insanity’. In sharing her life story, she aims to inspire hope, re-empower traumatised people and transform systems of care for people who suffer from emotional or mental difficulties, regardless of their psychiatric diagnosis.
