Lisa Marie Gabriel is a UK based writer, poet and musician. She scrapes a minor living as a composer, poet and multi-genre author and she shares a simple life between family and friends in British Columbia and rural Lincolnshire where she was once owned by a clowder of rescue Persian cats, sadly now just the one - excluding feline visitors. She lives in a little house that is happy but has seen better days and enjoys a quiet village lifestyle. Periodic forays into politics satisfy her desire to see an equal society where liberal values, respect and common sense prevail over bigotry and prejudice. When not writing poetry, stories, or pieces of music in the log cabin, she will usually be easy to find sitting by her self-built koi pond, watching over cats, frogs and birds.
Works by the author include short story collection; Tales from the Edge of Darkness; and poetry anthologies A Whisper of the Romantic in the Eye of God and The Tenderness of Mountains; The Cougar, a fantasy novel in the Gothic style; The Wings to Fly, a historical novel about the courageous young men and women who flew in World War Two; Angelica's Revenge a Gothic horror novel about vampires in Renaissance Florence, A Crofter's Tale: A Tale of the 45 a historical lesfic novel about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745; non-fiction Pussy's Little problem which is a little handbook for carers of cats with toilet problems and On Wenlock Edge: 100 Years On an academic study of the songs of Ralph Vaughan Williams with musical examples; sheet music Debussy Petite Suite for Guitar Trio with TAB and Flying to Meet the Sunrise, a CD of Lisa’s music. Lisa has also published an extensive catalogue of sheet music compositions and arrangements on Score Exchange.
She has recently published Sylvia in the Singularity, a magical realism work featuring a wild ride through the possible and the impossible that resolves in a higher dimension where all and everything is possible. Her second full length novel. Historical romance, The Wings to Fly, is about the women who flew in World War Two, the RAF pilots they ferried fighters (pursuits) and bombers for, and Land Girls who worked on the Home Front in Britain. Her first novel, The Cougar, was inspired by a love for British Columbia and an interest in vampires and shapeshifters. A third and shorter novella, A Crofter's Tale, is set in the Jacobite rebellion of 1745 and is a work of historical fiction with LGBT characters. As a writer, her first love is poetry but she has also written books for music education, has edited and published The Cat the Bat and the Burglar for Colin Edward Mason and she enjoys photography and design too. "I consider myself a Renaissance woman" she says, adding "unfortunately I do not possess Berenice's immortality!"
Lisa is also an established composer and musical arranger and has recorded her own album, Flying to Meet the Sunrise, which is available on CD (exclusive to Amazon.com) and MP3 format. She has also executed musical commissions for other writers including A Peaceful Celtic Spring.
