Kathryn Best

Kathryn Best is an author, architect and academic. Her best-selling books in 13 languages include Design Management: Managing Design Strategy, Process and Implementation (2015), The Fundamentals of Design Management (2010) and What Can Design Bring to Strategy? Designing Thinking as a Tool for Innovation and Change (2011). Kathryn regularly speaks at conferences and advises for design initiatives, cultural projects, higher education institutions, and corporate and government entities worldwide. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), she built a professional career in architecture, interiors, creative strategy and brand consultancy followed by a transition into academia where she held research, management, teaching and visiting positions in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Brazil and China. Kathryn is now an associate professor with the College of Architecture, Art and Design at the American University of Sharjah (UAE). Her research concerns design innovation, creative enterprise and cultural heritage. Since 2012, Kathryn has been investigating the 'mother of civilisation'. It is her belief that ancient Egypt is more deeply relevant to our future than what we currently recognise.
