Though Javascotia is set in Scotland and Chicago, I come from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I now live near Kingston, in the mid Hudson Valley, New York. I am a writing teacher, consultant, and coach. I've been teaching with Gotham Writers Workshop since 2013.

In 2014, I was awarded first prize for my short story "The White Man's Incredulity Furrows His Brow" by Puerto Del Sol for its short fiction contest (Lydia Millet, judge).
