Alex Crawford

I was born in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland in April 1965. After attending the local schools I joined the Territorial Army when I was 17 and served with K (Black Watch) Company, 151 Highland Volunteer Reserve. My current occupation is as a Field Service Engineer for an East Kilbride Franking Machine company.

I have always been interested in aircraft since I was a nipper, although I had no inclination to join the RAF. My particular favourites are the biplane fighters of the RAF during the 1930's. Since 1985 I have carried out continued research into the Gloster Gladiator, the RAFs last biplane fighter. In 2002 I was lucky enough to have had my first book, on the Gladiator, published by Mushroom Model Publications. As of 2022 I have been lucky enough to have had 14 books published.

Apart from my research/writing I also enjoy watching wildlife, photography and reading, when I have the time.
