Piper Terrett

Piper Terrett is a financial journalist, author and lecturer and lives with her husband Doug and pet chickens in Hertfordshire. Born and bred in Essex, Piper writes The Frugal Life blog at www.piperterrett.wordpress.com about their attempts to live the good life and save money.

The blog originally began life on MSN.co.uk in 2007 and followed her adventures as she lived on a smaller budget, grew her own vegetables and underwent moneysaving challenges during the credit crunch. It was featured on the site until 2011.

A former FT Group journalist and deputy news editor of the Investors Chronicle Magazine, she writes for a range of publications, including Moneyweek and Yahoo Finance UK. She is the author of The Frugal Life: How to spend less and live more (2009), Bedroom DJ: A Beginner's Guide (2003) and Think Green, Cut Costs, due for publication in summer 2013. She has appeared as a guest on BBC Breakfast TV, the Chrissy B Show, BBC Essex, BBC Scotland and BBC London to talk about moneysaving and green issues and given environmental talks on behalf of the Climate Change Speakers Network. She also lectures in writing at London Metropolitan University. In October 2009 she was appointed Green Voice of the UK by the Energy Saving Trust. You can follow her on Twitter at @thefrugallife.

In her spare time she writes crime fiction. Victim Support, set in Essex, and featuring her female police detective character Inspector Sam Cree, is her first novel.
