Born during the original "Monster Craze" of the 1960's, Paul Edwards grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts during the second wave of "Monster Kids" in the 1970's. Vintage horror films shown on Boston's WLVI-56 Creature Double Feature, and magazines such as "Famous Monsters of Filmland," gave him a lifelong love of B-movie entertainment. Among his favorite horror subgenres are the classic Universal Studios monster series, 1935-1945 Republic serials, the never-ending catalogue of 1930's "poverty row" spooky crime thrillers, Hammer films, and the Euro-horror monster mashes made in the 1970's by actor / writer / director / ultimate fanboy Paul Naschy.
With the "Mourners' Woods" books, Paul Edwards strives to bring modern readers the thrill and joy of old-fashioned monster horror updated for contemporary culture. Unlike many retro-horror projects which present such material in tongue-in-cheek form, Paul offers readers straightforward horror action, as if those wild pulp terror tales were being told today.
One of Paul's favorite reviews complained, "Not for advanced readers." Well, yeah. These are books for monster lovers, not for professors of English literature. If reading one of Paul's books makes you feel like you've just walked through a carnival haunted house --- and want to go through again --- he's done his job.
Paul is a criminal trial attorney by day. He runs his own law practice in Albany, New York, where he lives with his awesome wife Justine and their three hilarious children, Matthew, Joshua, and Nicole.
Please feel free to chat directly with Paul on his author page on Facebook. He'd love to hear from you!
