Daniel Fasnacht

Daniel is a recognized thought leader in digital leadership, innovation, and ecosystem strategy, with over 25 years of executive experience. He has held senior leadership positions, including CEO and Managing Director roles at Swiss banks, where he led organizations through strategic growth and digital transformation.

He is the founder of Ecosystem Partners Ltd., a consulting firm specializing in digital strategy, innovation, and the development of cross-industry ecosystems. In parallel, Daniel serves as Director and Lecturer for Executive Education at the University of Zurich, where he bridges academic insight with real-world application.

Daniel’s academic foundation is rooted in his pioneering PhD research on open innovation. His first book, Open Innovation in the Financial Services (2009), introduced growth concepts through openness, flexibility, and customer integration. His subsequent book, Open Innovation Ecosystems: Creating New Value Constellations in Financial Services (2018), examines how digital platforms act as gateways to cross-sector ecosystems.

In his most recent works, Open and Digital Ecosystems (2024) and Smart Health (2025), the author and editor explores the convergence of sectors and technologies and their profound impact on businesses, innovation, and society.
