Daniel Winterbottom

Daniel Winterbottom, RLA, FASLA is principle at Winterbottom Design Inc. and professor of landscape architecture. His practice and teaching focus on the creation of therapeutic environments for those impacted by trauma, mental illness, displacement and serving time in correctional facilities. He co-authored Healing Gardens in 2015 with Ms. Wagenfeld. He continues his advocacy and research around the greening of carceral environments and restorative justice. Awards include ASLA Community Service Award 2007, ASLA Excellence, Honor and Merit Awards 2024, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 2016, 2017. EDRA/Places Great Places Award, 2010, 2015 and 2018. His book “Design-Build, Integrating Craft, Service, and Research through applied Academic and Practice Models” was recently released by Routledge, Spring 2020 and Healing Gardens will be reissued in 2026.
